Amazon Audio Model Two (GBP 2250.00 exc arm & cart)

This is the affordable Amazon (well, it's all relative, isn't it?) and as such features a built in DC motor instead of the outboard unit on the Model One. Apart from that, there are very few compromises. You still get the same high standard of German engineering and finish.

The construction is all acrylic, including the precision machined platter (for which a substantial record clamp is available as an optional extra), and the main bearing is an inverted design, and uses a ceramic ball.

The aforementioned integral DC motor is switchable for 33.3 and 45rpm, and concealed screwdriver adjustable trimmers allow accurate speed setting. An outboard transformer connects to the deck.

Drive is by a very fine (but seemingly very robust) elastic thread (we've not encountered any failures yet).

The general standard of finish has to be seen to be appreciated, and sound quality is (naturally) of a very high order. We sell these decks mainly with Morch pickup arms, firstly because we're great believers in Morch arms in their own right (we are the UK importers - as we also are with Amazon, just to come clean!), and because Amazon themselves recommend Morch, and indeed developed the deck using this arm. Other arms can be accommodated if specified at the point of ordering.
