Tom Evans Microgroove and Microgroove Plus

One of our most popular phono amps of all time! The Microgroove can trace its history back to the Michell Iso, designed by Tom for Michell Engineering, but inside it's considerably different, as Tom never stands still, improvements are incorporated as soon as possible! It is basically a purist MC phono amp with no adjustments to gain or loading possible. It can be supplied a s a "standard" version with gain and loading to suit most pickups, or both can be specified at no extra cost at the point of ordering. If they need to be changed in the future, this is possible for a small cost.

The Plus version also has Tom's unique hand built power regulators fitted, the so called "Lithos" regulation boards, which give even greater detail. Even in standard form, the Microgroove is very detailed, open, and one of the most neutral sounding units you're likely to find. If you want warm and rose-tinted sound, look elsewhere, but if you just want to hear what's in your grooves, the Microgroove, standard or plus, should be top of your list.

Tom Evans Groove and Groove Plus

A bit more stylish and quite a lot bigger than the Microgroove, the Groove is a different animal altogether, taking the famous Tom Evans detail and neutrality to a higher level. Although being around for several years with minor modifications along the way, the Groove is still as popular as ever. The Plus version has a completely different, much more complex, outboard power supply rather than the standard built in supply, which accounts for the doubling of cost. A popular move is to start with the Groove and later have it upgraded to the Plus, a factory update which hardly penalises you in cost over buying it originally.

Like the Microgroove, the Groove is shipped with fixed loading and gain specified by you, but there is a version now, designated the Groove X, which has, for slightly higher cost, a loading adjustment facility on the rear.
