The all new Musical Fidelity M1 with SME M2 Arm (GBP 2999.00)

Wow. We've been promised this for a long time, and here it is - posted on the web same day it came in! In fact, the model above is rather special - it's serial number 1. By the way, don't get the impression that there is any wood in the acrylic base of the deck, the woodgrain comes from the support platform we used and couldn't be cut out as the rest of the surroundings were!

The new deck features an isolation system using four special decoupled and adjustable feet. The motor, driven from a special power supply (not shown), has switchable 33 and 45 rpm, with +-6% fine speed adjustment, and is separate from the top acrylic platform, linked only by the fine drive belt.

The M2 arm is a new model from SME made initially for Musical Fidelity (but possibly to be released in it's own right under the SME name) and matches the build quality of the deck.

It's not possible to convey in pictures the presence and standard of finish this imposing turntable has - you really have to see it in the flesh!

How does it sound? Don't ask me - it's only just come out of the box - there's no cartridge mounted as yet. You really will have to come in to hear it if you want to know (unless I add a footnote to this page a day or so later; but that would take away the fun and guessing!).
