M1 Clic Pre-amp / DAC / Streamer / Internet Radio

Fantastic new "digital music centre" (our words, not theirs) from M.F. which provides you with a hub which brings together your various digital music sources and presents them ready for a power amp or active 'speakers. At its heart is the same DAC as inside the cult-status M1 DAC, offering up to 24bit/192k compatibility.

The M1 Clic interfaces with your wi-fi (stubby antenna provided which can be used with or without included extension cable and base) or plugs directly into the back of your router. Acting as a UPnP media player it can play audio from any device on your network such as a desktop or laptop computer with a UPnP media server enabled. It also uses your network to stream internet radio using the vTuner portal. By registering with them (it's free) you can maintain a list of favourite stations accessible directly on the Clic or over the web.

But that's only the beginning, as you can alternatively plug a FAT32 formatted hard drive (or even a USB stick) into the front USB socket and browse your (folder based) music library. A huge range of formats, from humble mp3s to 24bit/96k uncompressed flacs, can be played. We prefer this external drive approach to devices with integral hard drives which sometimes use proprietary formats and are difficult to back-up or replace the drive in the event of failure. There is also a second USB socket at the rear of the unit specifically for interfacing with iPods.

Alternatively, if you prefer to browse for music on your PC or MAC instead of the Clic, the Clic can be connected as a USB "sound card" to either device and your computer audio will be piped through the high quality DAC.

And, of course, the Clic is also a high quality pre-amp offering 3 analogue and 3 digital inputs (2 coax and 1 optical).

All these sources are accessible via remote control using the front colour screen for navigation. What is striking is the simplicity both of initial set-up and the subsequent use of the Clic, which has a very simple and easy to understand interface.

We can demonstrate the Clic to you (please let us know you're coming) and you're more than welcome to bring your favourite music on memory stick or portable FAT32 formatted hard drive.

NB: a) Only external drives formatted FAT16 or FAT32 are readable by the front USB b) The rear USB only accepts iPods directly, not via a dock. If using a dock, connect to the digital or analogue inputs. c) Not suitable for "hidden" (non-broadcast SSID) wi-fi networks.
