02/03/13 - Our secondhand page goes back up - Yippee!

After an unforgiveably long break, we've finally got "our arse in gear" and reinstated our secondhand and ex-demo page. Over the coming weeks, this will grow and grow...

12/11/12 - CAD demo session in conjunction with Scott Berry on Friday Nov 30th

Please note, this is "invitation only" due to strict limits on the numbers we can accomodate. Please get in touch by email or 'phone and we will "issue" you an invitation. You can bring a couple of CDs for us to rip, and even bring your CD player, in order to compare with the CAD DAC. We start about 3.00pm with a second session about 6.00pm. Please let us know which time you are interested in. Remember, you MUST have an invitation to get in!

We have always primarily been a good 'ol fashioned vinyl playing establishment with a small smattering of digital players as a nod towards the "digital revolution". Over the last few months, though, something's happened to radically change our views about digital and CD. Don't worry, we're still first and foremost analogue lovers but digital can now take a place in our hearts too.

Scott Barry of Computer Audio Design, a UK company, has proved to us beyond doubt that your CD collection can take on a whole new life by using his DAC. In conjunction with a computer, that is, for there is no other way of using his DAC! A webpage will follow shortly but, for now, please come in ('phone first as usual) with two or three of your favourite CDs - even bring your player too if you like - and prepare to be blown away by what's actually on those silver discs provided you don't, er, actually play them!

31/12/11 - A Happy New Year ...

... to all our customers. Thanks for your support last year. It has been one of the most difficult years we have ever seen as far as business is concerned. But we've actually ended it in a stronger position than at the start, thanks to you all. Not by much, but bearing in mind how much all of us are having to "tighten our belts", any upturn, no matter how small, is a big surprise and very, very welcome! Thanks, again.

02/12/11 - Brand new Stirling Broadcast LS3/6 BBC monitors on demo

The first new BBC designed loudspeakers for many years, now on demo for a very limited period. They are superb. If you want to hear what they can do, be quick, we only have them for a month initially.

10/11/11 - Stirling Broadcast AB-2 subs for LS3/5a now on demo

We have the above available for demo together with the Stirling 3/5as, just give us a quick call before you come. These all new subwoofers sit below the 3/5as and match them perfectly, visually and electrically. They become, in effect, a full range floor standing loudspeaker system. A must for 3/5a owners. For a limited time only we have the above on demo again, so whether you're a prospective purchaser or just interested in what state-of-the-art headphones sound like, please come along (after 'phoning us first) with your favourite CDs (or, by special arrangement, LPs).

04/03/11 - Our New Site...

...has been up and running for several weeks now and has already attracted praise from some of our customers (thank you! - you know who you are). We've tried to keep it as simple as possible. Both ourselves and our webmaster webmistress believe in a site browsing experience which doesn't involve excessive use of scripting or flash animation and which is easily accessable by any browser including those on mobile devices. If anyone has ideas for improvements, please mail us, we like to keep an open mind!

18/11/10 - Michell Gyro "SE"duction Limited Edition -

Michell Engineering rarely release Limited Edition models - the last was in 2004, the "Odyssey", which soon sold out. But, we have just this morning had notice of the brand new Gyro "SE"duction, based on the Gyro SE, of which just 99 will be made. They reckon quite a few serial numbers have already been pre-ordered, strange as the notification only arrived today...

The tuntable is in a unique "blue steel" finish and comes with the Tecnoarm, record clamp, and HR power supply. Price is given as GBP 2245.00 and more information can be found here.

13/11/10 - Tom Evans MasterGroove

Details of Tom's new flagship phono amp are very sketchy at present. From speaking to Tom I do know the unit will be in a completely new case, a much more upmarket affair crafted out of 10mm perspex and with metal pillars at the corners. I would love to bring you a picture, but it's strictly hush right now. Either that, or it's not presentable yet! It's inside where the most impressive changes have been made, though. The front end is completely redesigned giving greater dynamic range and lower noise and distortion, all areas where the original is already impressive. Also, individual stages will now have their own Lithos 7 power regulators rather than sharing. Tom tells me the detail and transparency has to be heard to be believed. He's usually very enthusiastic about his products, but unlike some designers, he's usually justified! Price is to be GBP 8500.00, and initial availability very limited.
