About Walrus
Walrus is owned and run by two long time hi-fi enthusiasts, Les and Pete, who have worked alongside each other in specialist audio retail since the mid 1980s.
It started trading on the web in 1997 but by the following year acquired its present premises at 11 New Quebec Street in London's West End.
Initially Walrus represented a selection of "audiophile" brands without particular specialisation. In later years it dropped quite a few of these brands to concentrate on its present core specialities of record playing and valve amplification, whilst still keeping an eye on the most interesting digital developments.
Our knowledge of these two specialities shouldn't be under estimated, as both of us have long experience of matching, setting up and optimising record playing systems. If you have an old turntable combination you want to replace, chances are we already know all about it, and can easily advise on the best way of upgrading it. In fact, we might have even sold it to you originally, twenty years ago!
Pete has been tinkering with valve equipment since the early 1970s (when transistors were still relatively new!) and designed transistor amplification in the 1980s, so consequently has considerable experience of both valve and solid state technologies. We are therefore able to diagnose and repair faults in most equipment in-house. Please enquire first as time is always short, so we are quite selective about service work. Unusual, rare and exotic valve amps are welcomed!
We develop a good relationship with most of our customers. We are willing to give as much time and patience as necessary for customers to make the right choice initially and we support them over the years, and they usually give us their loyalty in return, sometimes even becoming good friends!
Even when you mail order rather than visit in person, you will find yourself dealing with either Les or Pete, and nobody else. Both of us have many years experience of mail order and customer satisfaction, and if there are any problems with the shipment or the equipment itself, it will be speedily resolved by one or both of us.

If you are coming by Underground (Central Line), turn left coming out from Marble Arch station, and then immediately left again, along Old Quebec Street. This is a short road, and at the end you will see New Quebec Street facing you. We are nearly at the end, on the right. The walk takes two minutes.
If you come by car, there are several large car parks nearby, as shown on the map. You can stop very briefly outside the shop, but it's not advised!
